PILATES FOR DUDES – CORE MOCEAN
Men. Dudes. Brahs. Meatheads. Whatever category you fall into, you’ve probably seen or heard the word Pilates and thought “No way man, that’s for chicks.” See that guy up there in the picture? Still think it’s for ladies? Pilates-inspired Lagree Fitness is about as dude-ish as you can get (no offense to the ladies – you’re super badass if you do Lagree).
Allow us to elaborate.
FIRST OFF, LAGREE IS NOT TECHNICALLY PILATES, SO WE CAN STOP CALLING IT THAT.
Lagree Fitness was developed by fitness guru (and super manly man), Sebastien Lagree. He was a big fan of Pilates, being a former Pilates instructor himself (and also personal trainer to many celebrities), but developed Lagree Fitness as a step up, to pick up where Pilates fell short. Which is why Lagree is often called “Pilates on crack.”
Even so, we have to give credit where credit is due. Pilates wasn’t founded by a woman. For the record, Joseph Pilates, the guy who founded Pilates, was a boxer and also a super manly dude. I mean, look at that guy and tell me you don’t want to look like that at 82.
SECOND, LAGREE IS A VERY TOUGH WORKOUT.
It’ll put hair on your chest. But seriously, it’s 50 minutes of heart-pumping, sweat-dripping, muscle-trembling, hurt-so-good pain. This guy described it as one of the toughest workouts he’s ever done:
